Dr. Jerry Nelson is part of the team that has planted CoastPointe.
The team intends it to be a redeeming place for people who are searching for spiritual meaning. Believing that such meaning is
found in Jesus, Jerry's leadership and teaching invites believers
to serve and encourages all to ask questions and seek for answers.
He believes that faith is a journey with ups and downs, certainties
and uncertainties, and that the hope for believers and seekers is
found in the same place–Jesus.
He and Carolon have been married for over 35 years and together
share three children and six grandchildren. They love family and appreciate the importance of the family sharing a Christian faith.
Jerry completed his doctorate from Abilene Christian University.
Mandy Donnelly serves as the worship leader at the weekend
services and always brings design, excellence, heart, and joy
to the experience. She has a Masters in Christian Ministry and
a school administrator’s certification. She serves in the Science department at Harby Jr. High in the Alvin School District.
She is married to Jason, they have two children Oliver and
Marley, and together they make a dynamic life team.
Ministry Assistant /
Ladies Ministry Leader
Carolon Nelson has designed and led women's ministry in
churches in the past and brings great expectation to this ministry.
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves
are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.
This makes it clear that our great power is from God,
not from ourselves. -2 CORINTHIANS 4:7 NLT
"I’ve seen the Light! The Light saved me, the Light gives me hope,
the Light keeps me going when I think I can’t go on! The Light
pushes me to be better, stronger, and kinder. The Light shines
through me as I experience joy in all the simple things of
The Light holds my hand and guides me through dark and lonely places that no one else will ever know exists. As women, we all experience the ups and downs of life, singing for joy one moment and crying for no reason the next! You know what I mean! It doesn’t matter what stage of life you are in; college, young adult, middle age, and older, we are all girls! And all girls need to know that someone cares. Sometimes it seems that life is fragile and isn’t fair. The feeling is God is nowhere to be found, or He’s not listening.
But, He is, He does, and He cares. I have found His touch to come at just the right moment, when I’ve needed it most.
I want you to know you are not alone on your journey! At CoastPointe, we have a great opportunity
before us to minister and mentor to the women not only in our church, but also in our community.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my passion and heart with girls of all ages, as we
grow in God’s love and grace together. Thank you for the opportunity to serve!"
These couples serve CoastPointe as pastoring leaders, offering spiritual
counsel and support. They watch for the flock, Hebrews 13:17, and in return
are respected highly in love by the people, 1 Thessalonians 5:12.
We believe in the importance of leadership in the church, so those who
serve in this role have a track record of spiritual devotion, a spirit of grace, and
cradle faithful ambition for the future.
Dr. Jerry and Carolon Nelson
In August 2014, they planted CoastPointe as a church
in the heart of Bay Colony with a vision of “Making a
Difference that Matters.” With a background experience
of ministry with churches from small to large, they bring
a passion to reach the lost with the Gospel and build a
church where all ages can find a place to belong and
pursue the faith journey together. In Dr. Nelson’s words
“CoastPointe is a grace place where imperfect people
rally around the perfection made possible in Christ. It is
a church for those who have more questions than
answers, and are looking to belong and build a life
of faith. It is a place for those who need a fresh start and those who found the start and looking to
run the next leg.”
“At CoastPoint we look to receive not overwhelm guests, and build relationships that last.!”
Ron and Betty Moore
They came to CoastPointe in early 2016 and never left.
Their arrival was a “gold mine find” for the church.
Possessing a spiritual devotion to Scripture and
passion for Jesus, their lives overflow into works
of ministry. Having worked with planted churches
before, they bring to CoastPointe unique
experience, and the patience to build for the future. Helping to build a new church does require patience, much patience.
